The Sooke Charter Boat Association's membership is comprised of the most reputable and experienced local fishing/whale watching charter operators. Our goal is to provide you with the best, the safest, and then most memorable fishing/whale watching adventure possible. All members conduct themselves professionally in all aspects of their operations. All vessels are required to conform to the Association's annual safety requirements. All members are also required to carry proper insurance.

 The Sooke fishing seasons:

Salmon Fishing is open year round.

Trophy Chinook/King Salmon (20 to 60+ pounds), May through September.

Coho/Silver Salmon, June through October.

Northern Coho up to 20+ pounds, September & October .

Sockeye/Reds & Pink Salmon, July through Labour Day Weekend.

(Note: Pinks every odd numbered year only)

Chum Salmon, September though October.

Winter Chinook/King Salmon (5 to 20 pounds), October through April.

Halibut Fishing, open February 1 to December 31.

Peak Whale Watching months are May through September.

NOTE: Coho/Silver Salmon are a non-retention species and must be released until further notice.

Some of our operators are also available for fishing charters in other Vancouver Island locations. During peak season months, trips to Port Renfrew, Sidney, Victoria, Bamfield and Nootka Sound (Gold River) are possible.
